BAPTISM AT ENGLISH MARTYRS CHURCH

Baptism is a Sacrament of faith, and the Church asks for a serious and loving commitment by the parents and godparents of a child to live the life of the Sacraments. Parents wishing to be baptised their child baptised at English Martyrs Church Streatham should be living in the parish more than 6months. If you belong to another parish you will need to obtain a letter of permission from your parish priest. If you are new to the Parish, you can get a letter from your previous parish to say that you are a practising Catholic.

  • At least one parent should be a practising Catholic
  • Parent(s) to attend Infant Baptism preparation sessions at the parish
  • Either one godparent, or two (one male and one female), who is a confirmed Catholic over the age of 16.
  • Baptisms are carried out, after the completion of the Baptismal Preparation course by parents, on the 2nd Saturday of the month at 11am.
  • Baptisms to take place on the last Sunday of every month at 2pm (Please confirm with the parish office)

Please collect a Baptism pack from the parish office for registration at least 4weeks before the preparation date.
